Between afternoon rehearsals and a concert the LPO would perform in the evening, we had just a few hours with Pieter to gather all of the material needed.

The video centres around a solo performance of Méditation from the opera Thaïs, filmed on stage at Royal Festival Hall.

In order to make the schedule work, Pieter had fittings of his two outfits in advance of the shoot. Locations were scouted beforehand and all filming took place within the venue and its immediate surroundings. After covering Pieter’s perfomance in just a few takes, we walked from one shot to the next until time was up. We used just available lighting and a single hand-held camera.
